Christians need the “singing bird”

KEEP A GREEN TREE IN YOUR HEART AND PERHAPS THE SINGING BIRD WILL COME. In theory, all Christians would probably agree with this Chinese wisdom. But in practice, keeping that tree green and welcoming can be a challenge, particularly when it comes to forgiveness. Perhaps it’s time to listen to George Macdonald who wrote: “If, owing you love, he gives you hate, you, owing him love, have yet to pay it” (Lewis, Anthology 51).
