Mark Galli’s article in Christianity Today “Incredible Journeys” brings up some really interesting questions about NDE’s. At first I was surprised to read that some Christians disagree with them for doctrinal or theological reasons.
I’ve always read accounts of Near Death Experiences with some skepticism. And yet I find some very compelling and helpful. Their credibility, for me, rests in the kind of person who shares the experience. What do they hope to gain by it? Do they have an agenda? Are their lives changed in real ways?
It never occurred to me to doubt these views of a “next life” because they conflict with a Christian’s idea of salvation.
Having not read any NDE’s for years, I ordered some recent ones that Galli suggested. And I’ve begun with Mary Neal’s.
